Parables of Jesus - Parable of the Unjust Judge Luke 18:1-9

Parable of the Unjust Judge

Luke 18:1-9

King James Version (KJV)
18 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

This parable is about persistent in prayer. It is also called as "The Parable of the Persistent Widow".

In the parable it is said that the widow was persistent in asking to resolve her issue with the adversary, though the judge did not fear God, nor was kind to men because of her persistent, he said to himself. If the Judge being an unkind and not fearing God, would like to resolve the issues of this women, how about God himself would respond to our Faith in him? our persistent prayers? our requests? our sacrifices? our cry, will he not care? will he not listen?

Absolutely NO...
Isaiah 59:1 NIV
Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.

Luke 1:37 NLT

For nothing is impossible with God."

Jeremiah 32:27 NIV

"I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?

The parable ends with two things,
1. At the day of appearance of Jesus - will there be faithful men?
Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

2. This parable is said not only for those to whom he says to have persistence in prayer, but also for those who believe in themselves, as to their good work and their works and who despised others. And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,

    and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 16:2 NIV

All a person's ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the LORD.

Proverbs 16:25 (KJV)

25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Prayer should always be with Sacrifices, Persistence, Belief, Glorifying the God, Focus on God's Will and many other things. Here in the parable it is all about being persistent. In Matthew 7:7 NIV Jesus said -
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Our prayer should be that of the Lord's prayer - Matthew 6:9–13 & Luke 11:2–4
Our priorities should be that of Jesus:
First to seek his kingdom - Matthew 6:33,
To do as according to the Father's will - Matthew 6:10, Luke 22:42
To obey his commands - Mark 12:33, Matthew 22:37, Luke 10:27.

Paul to Philippians 1:6 NIV
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

So when we pray we should ask God and be confident about receiving it, we should believe in God, who gives to all generously and without any prejudice.
Matthew 21:22 NIV
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

Have a Blessed Day Ahead.
