Parables of Jesus - The Lost Sheep frequently called The Good Shepherd - Luke 15:4–6

The Lost Sheep frequently called The Good Shepherd

Matthew 18:10-14

King James Version (KJV)
10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

Luke 15:4-6

King James Version (KJV)
What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

Just after saying about who is the Greatest? and Warns of Offenses. Jesus said this parable. One of the most important parable that will tell us about God's love for his people. Jesus says "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost". Jesus asks us as to what we think of it? "What do you think?
and gives us an analogy of the sheep which is lost and the shepherd who goes after to find it.

In John 10:11-12 NIV Jesus said “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.

The lost sheep here is an analogy of how the world today is with lost hope, lost jobs, lost joy, lost spirit. etc, but Jesus says he is a good shepherd willing to give his life for the lost, infact he has already give two thousand years ago, are we still going to say we are lost here?
