Parables of Jesus - Parable of the Master and Servant

Parable of the Master and Servant

Luke 17:7-10

King James Version (KJV)
But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?
And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.
10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

The parable was told when The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
May be the apostles thought the Faith is measured, and they expected something out of it. Say an appreciation or recognition. Jesus  6 replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.

Jesus asks us a question as to anyone will thank when they just did as per the commandments? Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

In the parable of the Lost Son - Luke 15:11-32, even the elder son will ask the father as to why not he was given the feast for, when he has served the father faithfully. It was his command to obey to his father and be with him and serve him.

In the parable of the workers in the vineyard - Mat 20:1-16, the workers who came in the early morning and worked till evening, who earned the same wages along with those who worked in the evening. Argued about the waging system and argued against the owner. They also misinterpreted the integrity of the owner and his grace towards everyone. They did not looked from the perspective of the owner, nor did they looked from the perspective of the servant who does what was commanded.

Paul was one of the most influential follower of Jesus Christ. When he says to corinthians - 1 Corinthians 15:10 NIV But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
