Parables of Jesus - Parable of the strong man

Parable of the strong man

Matthew 12:29

King James Version (KJV)
29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

Mark 3:27-29

King James Version (KJV)
27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

Luke 11:21

King James Version (KJV)
21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:

Jesus said this parable just after he cast out demons and healed the sick. He said this because he was accused of being demon possessed, blasphemy and casteth out devils through Beelzebub.

Jesus answered them by saying in Matthew 12:25 - Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

In Matthew 21, when Jesus was questioned about his Authority, He answered as:

Matthew 21:23-32 (NIV)
The Authority of Jesus Questioned
23 Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you this authority?”
24 Jesus replied, “I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
25 John’s baptism—where did it come from? Was it from heaven, or of human origin?”
They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’
26 But if we say, ‘Of human origin’—we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet.”
27 So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.”
Then he said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.

Jesus teaches us some very important lessons in the parable.
1. Jesus has come to the world not to destroy, but to fulfill the Law(Matthew 5:17 NIV
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.)
2. Jesus does the will of the Father. (John 5:19 NIV
Jesus gave them this answer: "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.)
3. Jesus came to save the world, heal the sick, deliver the oppressed - He cast out devils by the Spirit of God (Luke 4:18 NIV
"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,)

Have a Blessed Day Ahead
