The Parable of the Pearl of Great Price
New King James Version (NKJV)
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, 46 who, when he had found one pearl ofgreat price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
This parable appears only in the gospel of Matthew. The parable speaks about the kingdom of Heaven and what one has to do for it. One has to lose everything to gain the kingdom, because its precious and priceless.
In Matthew 6:33(KJV)33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
We tend to look the outward appearances and give importance for the temporary things. It is said in 1 Timothy 2:9 - In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
Matthew 7:6 - Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
