The Beatitudes
Matthew 5
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
For
they shall be comforted.
The Second Blessing for those who mourn, in Luke 23:28
NIV
- Jesus
turned and said to them, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep
for yourselves and for your children.
It is said that “Tears are blood of the soul” – Jesus
knew the pain and sufferings of human kind.
But he says those who mourn, shall be comforted by the
help of the Holy Spirit - John 14:26 -
But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom
the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all
things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Jesus wept twice in the bible. At Lazarus tomb and in the
garden of Gethsemane.
Luke 22:44 - And being in anguish, he prayed more
earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
Psalm 126:5-6 (NIV)
5 Those who sow with tears
will reap
with songs of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping,
carrying
seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying
sheaves with them.
(Psalm 56:8, NLT)
“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears
in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”
James 5:1 NIV
Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of
the misery that is coming upon you.
Isaiah 38:5
Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: I
have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears.
2 Kings 20:5 NIV
"Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my
people, 'This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have
heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from
now you will go up to the temple of the LORD.
