On CHANGE
Hebrews 13:8 NIV
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Everything changes, the smallest particle to the largest.
Take the example of a Molecule which consists of Atoms, Atom which consist
matter. The nucleus is the very dense region consisting of protons and neutrons
at the center of an atom. Constant change takes place in the universe - Expanding
universe. Here the change is the disposition of a particular object with
reference to another. Say the distance between two galaxies.
Change has two important aspects in it. Time and effect/displacement.
Matthew 9:16-17
New Wine into Old
Wineskins
16 “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old
garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse.
17 Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If
they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be
ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
Mark 2:21-22 (NIV)
21 “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old
garment. Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear
worse.
22 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins.
Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins
will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.”
Luke 5:33-39
New International Version (NIV)
36 He told them this parable: “No one tears a piece out
of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new
garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old.
37 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins.
Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the
wineskins will be ruined.
38 No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins.
39 And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for
they say, ‘The old is better.’”
Ecclesiastes 3
New International Version (NIV)
A Time for Everything
3 There is a time for everything,
and a season
for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be
born and a time to die,
a time to plant
and a time to uproot,
3 a time to
kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear
down and a time to build,
4 a time to
weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn
and a time to dance,
5 a time to
scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to
embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to
search and a time to give up,
a time to keep
and a time to throw away,
7 a time to
tear and a time to mend,
a time to be
silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to
love and a time to hate,
a time for war
and a time for peace.
9 What do workers gain from their toil? 10 I have seen
the burden God has laid on the human race. 11 He has made everything beautiful
in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can
fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing
better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. 13 That each
of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the
gift of God. 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing
can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will
fear him.
Isaiah 46 (NIV)
8 “Remember this, keep it in mind,
take it to
heart, you rebels.
9 Remember the former things, those of long ago;
I am God, and
there is no other;
I am God, and
there is none like me.
10 I make known the end from the beginning,
from ancient
times, what is still to come.
I say, ‘My purpose will stand,
and I will do
all that I please.’
11 From the east I summon a bird of prey;
from a far-off
land, a man to fulfill my purpose.
What I have said, that I will bring about;
what I have planned,
that I will do.
12 Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted,
you who are now
far from my righteousness.
13 I am bringing my righteousness near,
it is not far
away;
and my
salvation will not be delayed.
I will grant salvation to Zion,
my splendor to
Israel.
There is only 24 hours a day. So, there are two important
aspects in it. People who procrastinate they have to Do More with Less and
People who are obsessed with lots of work, cares of the world, working too
hard. They have to wait.
Do More with
Less
Psalm 90
New International Version (NIV)
12 Teach us to number our days,
that we may
gain a heart of wisdom.
13 Relent, Lord! How long will it be?
Have compassion
on your servants.
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
that we may
sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted
us,
for as many
years as we have seen trouble.
16 May your deeds be shown to your servants,
your splendor
to their children.
17 May the favor[a] of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the
work of our hands for us—
yes, establish
the work of our hands.
Wait
Habakkuk 2:1-20
New International Version (NIV)
2 I will stand at my watch
and station
myself on the ramparts;
I will look to see what he will say to me,
and what answer
I am to give to this complaint.[a]
The Lord’s Answer
2 Then the Lord replied:
“Write down the revelation
and make it
plain on tablets
so that a
herald[b] may run with it.
3 For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
it speaks of
the end
and will not
prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
it[c] will
certainly come
and will not
delay.
4 “See, the enemy is puffed up;
his desires are
not upright—
but the
righteous person will live by his faithfulness[d]—
5 indeed, wine betrays him;
he is arrogant
and never at rest.
Because he is as greedy as the grave
and like death
is never satisfied,
he gathers to himself all the nations
and takes
captive all the peoples.
6 “Will not all of them taunt him with ridicule and
scorn, saying,
“‘Woe to him who piles up stolen goods
and makes
himself wealthy by extortion!
How long must
this go on?’
7 Will not your creditors suddenly arise?
Will they not
wake up and make you tremble?
Then you will
become their prey.
8 Because you have plundered many nations,
the peoples who
are left will plunder you.
For you have shed human blood;
you have
destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them.
9 “Woe to him who builds his house by unjust gain,
setting his
nest on high
to escape the
clutches of ruin!
10 You have plotted the ruin of many peoples,
shaming your
own house and forfeiting your life.
11 The stones of the wall will cry out,
and the beams
of the woodwork will echo it.
12 “Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed
and establishes
a town by injustice!
13 Has not the Lord Almighty determined
that the
people’s labor is only fuel for the fire,
that the
nations exhaust themselves for nothing?
14 For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the
glory of the Lord
as the waters
cover the sea.
15 “Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbors,
pouring it from
the wineskin till they are drunk,
so that he can
gaze on their naked bodies!
16 You will be filled with shame instead of glory.
Now it is your
turn! Drink and let your nakedness be exposed[e]!
The cup from the Lord’s right hand is coming around to
you,
and disgrace
will cover your glory.
17 The violence you have done to Lebanon will overwhelm
you,
and your
destruction of animals will terrify you.
For you have shed human blood;
you have
destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them.
18 “Of what value is an idol carved by a craftsman?
Or an image
that teaches lies?
For the one who makes it trusts in his own creation;
he makes idols
that cannot speak.
19 Woe to him who says to wood, ‘Come to life!’
Or to lifeless
stone, ‘Wake up!’
Can it give guidance?
It is covered
with gold and silver;
there is no
breath in it.”
20 The Lord is in his holy temple;
let all the
earth be silent before him.
