Widow's son raised to life
Luke 7:11-17
King James Version (KJV)
11 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.
12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.
13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.
16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.
17 And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about.
This Miracle of Jesus raising a widow's son has very important lessons for our lives:
1. Jesus saw the condition of the Widow's situation. In fact in the Gospel of John when Jesus saw a man who was blind from his birth, his disciples ask him the question and this is what Jesus has to answer -
John 9
King James Version (KJV)
1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
2. In the Miracle of raising the Widow's son also many have misunderstood the power of God, he can turn any situation. People would rather think in their own way and interpret as to why some situations happen in life, some keep on thinking and never find a solution, some others misinterpret, some other never care. But the solution is always there with God. In the miracle Jesus first had compassion on her.
3. Jesus said unto her, Weep not. Jesus saw the situation that the women was a widow, and the son who died was her only son.
4. Jesus raises the dead to live: 14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
5. As said in John 9: The situation is to manifest the work of God in Jesus - Here also the manifestation of God's work takes place, to glorify God:
15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.
16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.
17 And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about.
