Jesus Gives True Rest

Matthew 11:28-30

New King James Version (NKJV)
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Tiredness, busy and anxiety are the reasons many people find difficult to lead a normal life. But end up with struggle, tension and disease. Finding out true rest is essential for a successful life.

Ecclesiastes 10:10 NIV

If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success.

Wise people admit they have limited skill and do those which are possible or practical. The rest which they believe is impossible with them, they trust in God. Because for God nothing is impossible.

Jesus says Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
When the heaviness is too much that we cannot bear anymore, we find no place to rest. Jesus is the answer. As Jesus calls all those who labor and are heavy laden. For he give you rest. The first and foremost thing to do is to choose Jesus Christ as the answer, to go to him for help.

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
To find rest for souls, Jesus asks us to take upon his yoke, for he is gentle and lowly in heart. We will surely find rest for our souls, when we wisely choose to take upon the yoke and learn from Jesus. As Jesus was gentle - we ought to be gentle also, As Jesus was lowly in heart - we also need to be lowly in heart.

Jesus says that scribes and pharisees bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

This is quite true in our lives also, many a times people choose the unable and poor for their benefit to bear the burdens, people choose to put on them the blame for all the wrong and mischiefs. For this reason Jesus says - Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me.

Matthew 23:1-39

New King James Version (NKJV)

Woe to the Scribes and Pharisees

23 Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, saying: “The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, ‘Rabbi, Rabbi.’ But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ,and you are all brethren. Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. 10 And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. 11 But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Jesus is the shepherd, In Psalm of David 23, David says Lord is my shepherd., as David was also a shepherd, he know how to take care of the sheep. Where to feed, lead and to find resting places for the sheep.

Psalm 23

New King James Version (NKJV)

The Lord the Shepherd of His People

A Psalm of David.

23 The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

So we can learn to be free from the burdens and cares of the world by taking the yoke of Jesus and learning from it, for it is light and it gives us the true rest that which we seek for our souls.

We have to cast our burden on the Lord.
Psalm 55:22 ESV
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

1 Peter 5

New King James Version (NKJV)

Shepherd the Flock

The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.

Submit to God, Resist the Devil

Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for
“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

We have to bear one another's burdens,

Galatians 6:2 ESV

Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Paul also says to comfort those who are in any trouble in 2 corinthians, chapter 1

Comfort in Suffering

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation.

HAVE A GREAT AND BLESSED DAY AHEAD
