Miracles of Jesus - Jesus forgives the sin and then heals

Paralytic healed

Matthew 9:2-8
King James Version (KJV)
And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.x
And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.
And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
And he arose, and departed to his house.
But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.

Mark 2:1-12

King James Version (KJV)
And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

Luke 5:17-26

King James Version (KJV)
17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.
20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.
21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?
23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?
24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
26 And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.

The miracle of Jesus forgiving the sin and then heals the Palsy has a very important lesson for our lives:

Power and The Presence of God:
The miracle starts by saying that Jesus was teaching to the Pharisees and doctors. This shows the power of the God and the presence of the lord to heal them - "and the power of the Lord was present to heal them."

The Forgiveness Of Sins, Faith of the people, Helping one anther, Praying for one another:
18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.
20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

These men could did a great job by first believing that only Jesus could heal this paralytic and once they did not find a place, they took an other root, they never gave up. This shows their trust in God, their persistence in seeking. They did something unnatural to let the paralytic down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. And here it is said that " And when he saw their faith". It was not just the faith of that particular paralytic nor the men, but their faith. It is said that in James 5:14 NIV Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. When this man was sick in his bed Jesus saw their faith and forgave his sin and healed him, likewise we should also pray for one another. the 16th verse says
James 5:16 KJV
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Jesus' Authority and Power, The Miracle of Healing the Palsy/Paralytic::
When Jesus said thy sins are forgiven thee: the pharisees began to reason -
And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?

Here we can see the power of God through the word, as Jesus said the sins are forgiven, even before the sick man was healed. Jesus knew that the first thing is to forgive the sins of the paralytic, because sin is the biggest sickness, its more that the physical sickness. Thats is why the phariees asked about Jesus' authority. They know about the power of God, but yet doubted it (As they had little faith), they know about Jesus - but yet did not believed in his powers (Luke 16:31 NIV "He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.'"... They tried to test him (Luke 4:12 NIV Jesus answered, "It is said: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"
John 8:6 HCSB - They asked this to trap Him, in order that they might have evidence to accuse Him.) They are feared (John 12:42 NIV Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;)

Jesus - The messiah, the Son of God, The Lord himself:
He knew what they thought - (v. 22)
He answered them appropriately - (v. 22)
He did what... What God only can do - (v. 23,24)

Glorified God:
They were all amazed, and they glorified God.
Matthew 5:16 NIV In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Have A Great and Blessed Day Ahead
