Miracles of Jesus - Jesus Heals Ten Men With Leprosy

Ten lepers cleansed

Luke 17:11-19

King James Version (KJV)
11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

The miracle of healing ten lepers has very important lessons for our lives:
Jesus listens to their cry:
As these men had leprosy they were far off - 12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
Their normal life would have been ceased. They would have been ceased from conducting normal business, they would have been condemned to enter into the cities - as it says in the 11th verse, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. Border is were these lepers were made to stay, they did't have a proper place to stay. 11 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee.- Luke 17:11 NIV, they were not even would have been allowed in synagogue. They cried to Jesus lifting their voices. 13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

Jesus had mercy on them:
Jesus had mercy on them when they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. He showed them mercy by healing them - 14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. He said to go to the priests, this is to signify that God is powerful and to glorify God.

Jesus saw the faith of the Samaritan:
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
The quality of this Samaritan is the quality of a faithful one. Because first he turned back to God when he was healed. He turned back from all his past. His turning back is for a purpose and that is to Glorify God. with a loud voice glorified God. After glorifying he fell down and gave thanks to God. 16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks:

Jesus asks about the remaining:
In the above miracle every one of the leaper was expected to come back, glorify and fall down and thank God. But since only one came back, Jesus question the others. 17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
Jesus also says - Save this stranger. This is to signify that this Samaritan's turning back was rewarded. And finally Jesus says Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

Jesus teaches us about being faithful in the above miracle. As like the Samaritan each and everyone of us fall short from some or the other things in life and God will hear our cry, but it is our responsibility to be faithful when he heals us from our sickness. Our approach should be that of this Samaritan, who first turned back, we should also turn back from our sinful ways, from our past lives to Jesus. We should Glorify God, by our works, by our words that we speak with one another. We should fall down at his feet, we should surrender, submit ourselves to God. We need to thank, always.

HAVE A GREAT AND BLESSED DAY AHEAD
