Analogy of Jesus Christ - The Power of the Word Of God

The God who created the Heaven and the Earth, all that is there in it. The God who created human beings in his own image. He gave them the word. He showed that the power of his word through his Son Jesus Christ. The word is Jesus Christ as said in John 1st chapter,

John 1
King James Version (KJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

It is said that God created everything with words, the power of God's word has been an inspiration for the people to write the Gospel, the Bible all the chapters are inspired by the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 3:16

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

Jesus constantly reminded us about the words that we speak.

Matthew 15:11

New International Version (NIV)
11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”

So we need to be very sure of the words that we speak, we can never get back the words that we spoke once. So it very hard for someone who hurts through their speech or through their words to bring the reconciliation.

So everytime when we speak to others, let us have this in mind, the words that we speak is going out from our mouth, First it will impact us - then the other person. So we need to always speak the right thing. Our words have power to heal and bring about great changes in lives of many.

Proverbs 18:21

New King James Version (NKJV)
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.

In James chapter 3, it says that the words are compared with

bits in the horses' mouths - This speaks about control, controlling with the power of words. We try to control thing into our own wish.

small helm - Direct, to lead with the power of words.

a fire - weapon, used to destroy.

James (KJV) 3

1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.

4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.

5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Matthew 7:15-23

New International Version (NIV)

True and False Prophets

15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

True and False Disciples

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

When Jesus said about the True and False Prophets, He advises us to know them by what they speak. Their fruits are the words they speak. We need to take care of what they speak, what we hear and what we listen. Because that impacts on what we do. Jesus also warns about what happens if they speak false or if they speak deceitfully.  Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Meditating the word of God will change our way of speaking to other people. God dwells in us will not let go of the most powerful words for wrong purposes, but enables us to utilize us to use it to glorify him and to encourage others. No matter what happens to our lives, we should always be thankful to God, Because by words that displease God will bring bad results on us, there are many examples in Bible that teaches us what had happened to the people who complained about God, Example the Israelites entering into the promise land.

Hebrews 4:12

New International Version (NIV)
12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
