Truth and Absolute Truth:
Truth claims like the historical facts can be accepted, as we have evidence and verifiable facts. Most of the belief system accepts these facts which are common and these seems to be common ground for all the belief system, say Doing Good, Not Harming, Seeking Truth, etc.
But there is something more than that, Absolute Truth. A claim that Jesus says... John 14:6 NIV
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Why it is becoming easier to just go through the Truth? and not Absolute Truth. The pantheistic worldview and the New Age movement go in sync with the enlightenment movements and today's worldly life. That is to live life without much concern about the Eternal Life or Life after Death, because the worldview is distorted with either thinking there is no other life than this life in the world or the cycle of life, that there are reincarnations that will continue until the last payment of karma is completed. All that is now is Maya, so it does not matter what we do now, if good we are close to God if we do wrong then we may have to circle the cycle a little more.
But the Christian worldview is not only the truth of the Life, but also logical. Just like how much we can understand the gravity, sin and its consequence is so true. God will not ignore such instances where there is absolute injustice. That is where the Judgment Day takes place. Every act, every word everything will be Judged. But God is also loving and merciful, how can a loving God Judge and punish his innocent people, does not he pave a way for this? The answer is the Cross, Jesus Christ. He bore our sins, so that we doesn't have to be condemned eternal to be punished and suffered. But, it is not so easy, not so difficult to obtain his Grace of Eternal Life. Jesus says about Narrow Way, Camel passing through the eye of needle to say the difficulties of people not been able to accept the truth, but he did say that, what is impossible with men is possible with God. He did said, John 15:7 NIV If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. So, If we trust in him and believe in his word he will enable us to walk in his ways.
This is why Jesus said, John 15:10 NIV
If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love.
The fact that we can't save ourselves to the heaven is because God is perfect, holy and he is the Absolute. All the ways of ours to please him to accept us will be limited because we are just humans, made in his image, but still we are nothing when compared to the One True Holy God. So, when he says there is a way, we need to accept and obey him.
Ephesians 4:18 NIV
They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.
This ignorance is due to "hardening of the hearts". The hardening of heart can be seen in the time of Abel and Cain, Pharaoh of Egypt, many false prophets... even to this day.
The surety of God's Grace and Mercy, His Judgment
Revelation 21:4 NIV
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
John 14:2 NIV
My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
John 17:3 NIV
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
