The Authority of the Word: Knowledge of God

If anyone is to make a cup of Coffee. He would be requiring Coffee powder, Sugar, milk. Then why should someone need Tea Powder?
In the context of search for God, one should know what exactly he needs to know. One one can know everything in one's lifetime. What he needs to know about a particular incident, or what information will enable him to achieve his purpose for life, only those information is what he needs to know.

Ecclesiastes 11:3-5

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
If the clouds are full, they pour out rain upon the earth; and whether a tree falls toward the south or toward the north, wherever the tree falls, there it [a]lies. He who watches the wind will not sow and he who looks at the clouds will not reap. Just as you do not know [b]the path of the wind and how bones are formed in the womb of the[c]pregnant woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes all things.

Not knowing what will happen gives us two important lessons:
The first is to trust God for everything to be good,
The second is to give us enough courage to withstand any incident that may happen.

Most wise men in the world were not those who knew everything. They were those who knew what they wanted to know.

Ecclesiastes 1:18

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
18 Because in much wisdom there is much grief, and increasing knowledge results in increasing pain.

As said earlier, If we want to make coffee and worry about not having Tea powder... It is like worrying about everything in life, what is not required.

Matthew 10:29-30

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a [a]cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Ephesians 3

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Paul’s Stewardship

For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles if indeed you have heard of thestewardship of God’s grace which was given to me for you; that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief. [a]By referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight [b]into themystery of Christ, which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets [c]in the Spirit; to be specific, that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel, of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of God’s grace which was given to me according to the working of His power. To me, the very least of all [d]saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ, and to [e]bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things; 10 so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was in accordance with the [f]eternal purpose which He [g]carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord,12 in whom we have boldness and [h]confident access through faith [i]in Him. 13 Therefore I ask [j]you not to lose heart at my tribulations on your behalf, [k]for they are your glory.
14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom [l]every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the [m]saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations [n]forever and ever. Amen.

The Authority of the Word: On Zeal of God

Zeal of God is often quoted in Bible as the love for the God, Wanted to know more about God, that would invariably help the person to express and tell the truth to the fellow being. Zeal for God is out of passion, a desire for God.

Paul says in Romans chapter 10, that the gentiles were very much zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Further he says, these men were looking for the law and their own ability to attain righteousness. Which by far is the most mistaken aspect of many people today. Grace is sufficient for us. Grace of God. Not by our works but by his work. The knowledge that Paul speaks about is the knowledge of God's grace. God's righteousness through faith in Jesus.

Romans 10:2 NIV
For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.

Romans 10

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The Word of Faith Brings Salvation

10 Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. For not knowing about God’s righteousness andseeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the [a]end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is [b]based on law shall live [c]by that righteousness. But the righteousness [d]based on faith speaks as follows: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down), or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).”But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, [e]that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, [f]resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, [g]resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be [h]disappointed.” 12 Forthere is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who [i]bring good news of good things!”
16 However, they did not all heed the [j]good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So faith comesfrom hearing, and hearing by the word [k]of Christ.
18 But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have;
Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
And their words to the ends of the [l]world.”
19 But I say, surely Israel did not know, did they? First Moses says,
will make you jealous by that which is not a nation,
By a nation without understanding will I anger you.”
20 And Isaiah is very bold and says,
was found by those who did not seek Me,
became manifest to those who did not ask for Me.”
21 But as for Israel He says, “All the day long I have stretched out My hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.”

As David often says:
Psalm 69:9
for zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me.

Psalm 119:139
My zeal wears me out, for my enemies ignore your words.

David's Zeal of God was that, It consumes him - When someone insults the people of God. It wears out, when the enemies ignore God's words.

Jesus Zeal of God was very evident when he drove the moneychangers in the temple. As said in
John 2:17 NIV
His disciples remembered that it is written: "Zeal for your house will consume me."

Zeal for God is a powerful aspect of the believer. It should be based on the knowledge of God. That his Grace is sufficient for us. Not by our doing, but by our Faith, our belief in God.

Its the power of consumption - "It consumes me", Its the power of wearing out - "It wears me out"

Psalm 27:4 NIV
One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

Psalm 84:10 NIV

Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

Hebrews 11:25 NIV

He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.

The Authority of the Word: On Knowing the Truth

John 8:31-59

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The Truth Will Make You Free

31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” 33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, ‘You will become free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. 36 So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants; yet you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you. 38 I speak the things which I have seen with My Father; therefore you also do the things which you heard from your father.”
39 They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus *said to them, If you are Abraham’s children, do the deeds of Abraham. 40 But as it is, you are seeking to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do. 41 You are doing the deeds of your father.” They said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father: God.” 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, andyou want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hearthem, because you are not of God.”
48 The Jews answered and said to Him, “Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?” 49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. 50 But I do not seek My glory; there is One who seeks and judges. 51 Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he will never see death.” 52 The Jews said to Him, “Now we know that You have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets also; and You say, ‘If anyonekeeps My word, he will never taste of death.’ 53 Surely You are not greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets died too; whom do You make Yourself out to be?” 54 Jesus answered, If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing;it is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God’; 55 and you have not come to know Him, but I know Him; and if I say that I do not know Him, I will be a liar like you, but I do know Him and keep His word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” 57 So the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born,I am.” 59 Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple.

There were millions and millions of people who believed the theory of the Geo-Centric approach and have died thinking the earth is at the center. But the truth is, the Sun is at the center. What changes did it make to the mankind knowing this truth? Or what does not it accomplish it for those who never knew. These are hard questions to understand. But as of now, there is a quest to know the truth. As like never before in the history of mankind, he has improved to know the meaning and purpose for his existence. But yet there are many things that still needs to be answered. What if the hypothesis is false and what he thinks as the truth may be a false or lie that he only comes to know later when he has departed?

The concept of God is not new. It has been one of the most important aspect of many lives. Knowing and in believing they find a purpose and a call, to which they are accountable and answerable. Their lies the mystery of Will and Destiny. Destiny is a choice that we choose. We have already been chosen to choose this option.

Deuteronomy 30:19 NIV
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live

Over the period of time. The humankind has chosen to lose sight on the aspects of a Godly life. If there is a God what he would do, he has done. But we as humans have comprehended him with our limited knowledge in this time and space. Questioning and reasoning everything.

If we know the truth about this aspect of God we would not have many of the problems, because many of our problems have arisen out of the conflict in understanding about God. In finding the truth we will have a definite answers for our doubts and an definite purpose for our existence. Without which we will have no hope for eternal Joy and fear of eternal judgment.

The truth that sets us free is not the one which gets us free from our choices, It guarantees the guidance, but it never forces. The truth and the mystery of God is this:
1 Timothy 3:16 NIV
Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.

The truth that many have changed their perspective on God. They wanted God to be (A specific) personality. Indeed its true that God has to be God. But its beyond our reasoning as to what God should be. God made it all simple by sending his one and the only son Jesus. He know that we get caught up with the chaos and confusion that arises because of the unfaithfulness and doubt.

Over the years people have come up with all sorts of thoughts on God. The collective wisdom and thought of few have led to overcome the truth that any one person had. Truth has been deceitfully made to appear as false. Many argue creatively with the technological evidences and achievements saying why is the Bible not clear about the creation? why does the Bible not able to answer about the clear picture of the universe? The Bible contradicts the Geocentric and Heliocentric approach and many of the scientist have been killed and burnt by the christian saying heretics or blasphemy.

The truth is all in acceptance: The ability to respond to the divine call - submitting and surrendering ourselves to him:

Romans 12:1

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Dedicated Service

12 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

There are questions about God being unjust and unmerciful, saying if God is so compassionate and loving. Why should he allow all the sufferings the mankind has to go through?

The truth is in understanding God: The misconception about the cause for human sufferings and the solution for it is much to do with the humans only. Expecting God to act on every occasion and if we expect to be doing nothing is illogical and it's impossible.

The second truth is about understanding the sufferings itself: As people it is our creation that without suffering there is no joy.

John 16:21 NIV
A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.

The other aspect as to look at the pain and sufferings is that. We have been created in that way, Many of us think life to be easy and smooth. This way of thinking about life and expectancy is a false way to look at the life. When we see the way the nature responds, the life of every species and in the animal kingdom. All strives to live life and each of those creatures suffer. Mankind has chosen this way:
Genesis 3:22 NIV
And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."

Genesis 3:17 NIV

To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat from it,' "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life.

But thats not all the end: There is a Hope - The Truth is Jesus.
Philippians 4:7 NIV
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

What truth of today will make a change in our lives?
Acts 17:28 NIV
For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'

John 14:6

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

The Authority of the Word: On Miracles and Healings

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, God in human. His presence itself made many difference, It was the belief that people had on him, As Jesus says: Matthew 9:29 NIV
Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith let it be done to you"

There are many questions raised by the skeptics and other historians about the Miracles and Healing done by Jesus Christ. It was as then as now. People would inspect to know what really happened, their quest for knowledge and wisdom is acceptable. But their unbelief and misunderstanding is what God hates, more than anything God hates their pride.

Many of these Miracles and Healings are far beyond the possibility of Human mind to conceive. Say for Example, Walking on the Water, Calming the Storms. Healing the Blind, dumb, driving out the evil spirits.

But the Word of God says that it is true that Jesus did those miracles and healings and even much more.

The view of Pharisees and Sadducees on Miracles and Healings of Jesus:
These Pharisees and Sadducees were so much into the religious views, that they forgot the moment that what they were witnessing were done by the Son of God, The Messiah, The Prophet who they learnt about, whom they were awaiting for. They were much concerned about the outward appearances, praises of men. In many instances they Pharisees and Sadducees tried to test Jesus by questioning and reasoning. They tried to condemn when Jesus healed on Sabbath, Matthew 21:12 NIV - Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.
They were angry on him.

Even when Jesus said, John 10:30 I and the Father are one.”... And then later again when Jesus said about the Father -

37 If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; 38 but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may [f]know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.” 39 Therefore they were seeking again to seize Him, and He eluded their grasp.

So, the Pharisees way of looking at the things is like - They believe in Miracles and Healings by God, But they wanted in their way. Their way of looking at the things are different. They wanted the miracles and healings to be done as according to their rules and times:

The view of the skeptics and other who do not believe in the Miracles:
The skeptics on the other side does not believe in the miracles. They search for Evidence, Facts and Proof. They want to question each and every aspect of the miracle. They create their own theories based on their facts. The belief in Jesus' miracle takes a huge step in faith. It is not easy. Because most of the time the miracles and healing happen contrary to what the people think. The Death and Resurrection of Jesus itself is an example. Because those who thought the a ruler who would come and save, will also rule over everyone, will build a great empire and his power will be greatest. That is why when Jesus did such great miracles the people urged Jesus asking him to be the king. But Jesus refused and said -

John 6:38

King James Version (KJV)
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

From the above views we can understand that the world looks for a different kind of an expectation on the subject of Miracles and Healings: It is not only impossible to see miracles happen in their lives, but also they lose the blessings God has for them.

So, How then should one view these miracles as:
It should be that of the believer, the way that God wants us to look.

The View of the Believer:
As believers we should never look at only the outer appearances of anything. We should be humble before God, so that he who created in his own image will enable us to understand the mystery behind the miracle, more than any other important aspect of a miracle by God, is to teach us lessons for our lives: John 14:12 NIV
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

As believers we live by Faith - 2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV For we live by faith, not by sight.
As believers we Jeremiah 29:13 NIV You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

The View of the God:
God knows that his miracles and healings would not be accepted by some, as their Heart is Hardened -  Ephesians 4:18 NIV They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.

John 12:40 NIV

"He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn--and I would heal them."

1 Corinthians 1:25

New American Standard Bible (NASB)
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Psalm 14:1-3

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Folly and Wickedness of Men.

For the choir director. A Psalm of David.

14 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds;
There is no one who does good.
The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men
To see if there are any who understand,
Who seek after God.
They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt;
There is no one who does good, not even one.
